Meet Mackenzi Dellolio

Who I Am

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, driven by a strong interest in protecting digital systems and the people who rely on them. My curiosity about how technology works behind the scenes has evolved into a passion for understanding and preventing security threats. Through both my academic studies and my service as a Cyberwarfare Technician in the U.S. Navy Reserve, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for precision, discipline, and accountability. These qualities have strengthened my attention to detail and commitment to excellence. I take pride in being dependable, motivated, and always eager to learn as technology continues to advance and shape the world around us.

and information. As a first-generation college student, I’ve always been motivated to make the most of every opportunity and set an example for those who come after me. My interest in technology grew early on, inspired by my brother’s career in computer science and the way he approached problem-solving through innovation and logic.

Over time, that curiosity evolved into a deeper interest in cybersecurity—particularly how systems can be strengthened against evolving threats. Through my coursework and internship experience, I’ve gained hands-on skills in areas such as network monitoring, access management, and policy compliance. Working in a professional IT environment allowed me to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios and better understand how cybersecurity supports both people and operations. These experiences have solidified my commitment to this field and continue to motivate me to grow as both a learner and a future professional.

Beyond Academics

Outside of school and service, I am passionate about running. It has become more than just a hobby because it is a way to challenge myself, stay focused, and set meaningful goals. Running has taught me the value of consistency and perseverance, both of which I apply in my academic and professional life. I am currently working toward completing my 25-Race Challenge for 2025, which pushes me to keep improving and reminds me that progress often comes one step at a time. Whether I am training for a race or working toward a career goal, I approach each challenge with dedication, patience, and a drive to achieve my best.

Looking Ahead

As I continue developing my technical expertise and professional skills, I am eager to contribute to organizations that value security, innovation, and continuous improvement. My goal is to combine the knowledge I have gained through my coursework, internship experience, and personal growth to help strengthen cybersecurity strategies that protect people, data, and operations. I am committed to staying curious, embracing new challenges, and approaching every opportunity with diligence and purpose as I work toward a rewarding career in cybersecurity.
