MICO Open House Event

In a celebration of achievement, the Monarch Internship and Co-Op Office hosted an Open House on November 6, 2023. The event brought together a diverse group of presenters, esteemed guests, and enthusiastic interns, marking a milestone for the office in its first three months on campus.
Interns played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of the event, taking charge of greeting attendees and directing student traffic. Their commitment to maintaining order showcased the professionalism and dedication instilled within the Monarch Internship and Co-Op Office team.

The Open House began with remarks from notable speakers, including community representatives and our esteemed Director, Barbara Blake. The event reached new heights with the presence of University President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D., who shared insights into the significance of internships and co-op opportunities in shaping the future of our students.

One of the highlights of the event was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the official inauguration of our office. President Hemphill and Director Barbara Blake, along with our dedicated Assistant Directors, Dr. Saige Hill and Katina Barnes, did the honors. Their joint efforts recognized the hard work and dedication of the team within the first three months on campus. It was a moment of pride and acknowledgment for the collective contributions poured into establishing a valuable resource for ODU students.

Following the ribbon cutting, attendees and interns had the opportunity to socialize and network. The relaxed atmosphere provided a platform for forging stronger connections with the college community and beyond. Conversations flowed, ideas were exchanged, and relationships were solidified, setting the stage for future collaborations and successes. The Open House was not just an event; it was a testament to the vision and hard work invested in creating a hub for internships and co-op experiences at Old Dominion University.
